An Evening in Nogent Sur Seine

Spent the night at Nogent-Sur-Seine on my way to Paris.  We got an Airbnb, which we didn't need. We could have just biked in, but I didn't do accurate research on the distance,

We didn't love this old reconstructed moulin.

Sarah forgot her toothbrush.  She bought one here.  There are so many black hair supply stores all over Paris, and even in this community. I shouldn't have worried.

This is the Cathedral of St.Laurent

Saint Lawrence (also spelled Laurent in French, Lorenzo in Italian, and Laurentius in Latin), he is one of the most famous early Christian saints.
He is best known for:

Being a deacon in Rome during the 3rd century, serving under Pope Sixtus II.
His martyrdom in AD 258 during the persecution of Christians under Valerian.
The story of "the treasures of the Church." When Roman authorities demanded the Church's wealth, Lawrence gathered the poor, widows, and sick and presented them instead, saying, "These are the treasures of the Church." According to Christian tradition, this act led to his execution.
His legendary death on a gridiron. Tradition says he was executed by being burned on a metal grate. A famous (though likely legendary) story says he joked to his executioners, "Turn me over; I'm done on this side."
Because of this tradition, he became the patron saint of:
Cooks and chefs
Bakers
Firefighters
Librarians and archivists
The poor
His feast day is 10 August in many Christian traditions.
Saint Lawrence has been especially venerated in Italy, Spain, and France. Many churches are dedicated to him, including the famous Basilica of Saint Lawrence Outside the Walls in Rome, where he is traditionally believed to be buried.

He's remembered not only for his martyrdom but also for his commitment to charity and his belief that caring for those in need was at the heart of the Church's mission.
