Cathy gave me some tips on blocking in the figure. See her drawing to the right and mine to the left.

Glen's Drawing Animals and Locations Class

Took Glenn's workshop this Tuesday. I can't go to the 2nd Tuesday now that I got a new job and have to work. I drew like shit Tuesday in this class but I think I learned something. Not exactly sure what.

Last Class - Animal Drawing

Sunday was the last animal drawing class. Below Joe Weatherly did a demo of giraffe's in my sketchbook. Below is a scan of his drawing.
Some head studies - some copies some from dvds.
The chimps at the zoo.

Horse study from rhino house dvds

Village Green

This is a limited palette painting a did for homework in Eric Merrell's class in my condo complex. The colors I used are: Titanium White, Burnt Sienna, Cadmium Yellow Medium, Napthol Red and Ultramarine Blue.

Santa Monica College - Sphere and Torso Lesson

I had a good night for the first time in a while at Santa Monica College. We had a full figure model that Cathy took advantage of for a sphere and torso lesson. Glen Vilppu had done a cube lesson when I was in class with him but he didn't do his sphere lesson so it was nice that Cathy (a disciple of Glen's) took this on.

These were drawings that Cathy put into an animation sequence like she likes to do.

Abalone Cove - Palos Verdes

Painted at Abalone Cove on Saturday with Eric's Class. These paintings aren't quite dry I think because now there is a little oil paint on my scanner.

This one is my second one.

This is my first. I thought I had pushed the color more on the trees but now looking at it I could have gone much farther. I looked at Nathan Fowkes' blog this morning and I realize I should be painting more forcefully with bigger brushes and more brush strokes. I will try to do better tomorrow.

Santa Monica College - Figures in Motion

I am enjoying the class with Cathy Karol at Santa Monica College (even though I always get there late because of work. Now that I'm laid off of work I should be able to be there on time).
These are eggs I did for homework.
This is a homework self portrait - "Nya with double chin"

This is a longer drawing from class. I'm not sure how long.

This is a shorter version. I think 5 minutes.

San Gabriel Mission

It was raining a lot when I did this painting at the Mission. I was fighting with Eric about it. He wanted to make the building a lot greyer. I didn't like that. Now I realize maybe he was right.

Natural History Museum

Drawings from the Natural History Museum.
Joe's Polar Bear

My Polar Bear
Joe's Buffalo

Worked on these dinosaur drawings in Joe's class at the Natural History Museum. I liked how the came out. Sometimes I hust want to work in pencil. The freedom of being able to erase even if I don't erase that much.

Village Green

Limited Palette painting of a building in my condo complex. Something is wrong with the upper side wall. I'm not sure exactly. I like using a limited palette I feel like it helps me. I'm not sure what I am really doing with the brushes or the brush strokes. Oh Well. I need 5 years I think.
